Join volunteers from the Mon/Yough Trail Council and the generous folks at Pennsylvania American Water on Friday, October 8 to cut the ribbon on a new hydration station at the Great Allegheny Passage trailhead in Boston. Bring a friend and ride the Great Allegheny Passage with members of the Steel Valley Trail Council as they mark 10 years since the completion of the GAP between the Riverton Bridge and the Waterfront retail shopping complex. Register in advance for a cxommemorative t-shirt and bring your camera for great views.
This fun ride or walk along the Great Allegheny Passage starts at Yough River Park in Connellsville, and heads in either direction, toward West Newton or Ohiopyle, depending on your choosing. While in Connellsville, check out the Bananas for Bikes exhibit of vintage bicycles displayed in downtown storefronts. Proceeds from this event benefit the Yough River Trail Council.
The GAP Relay presented by UPMC Health Plan is a two-day non-stop relay challenge that you won't want to miss. Relay teams will tackle 150 or 60 miles that include relay legs of varying distances along Great Allegheny Passage from Pittsburgh's South Side to Cumberland.
