DESCRIPTION:Ride out to Frostburg to watch crews and drivers race soapbox-style cars down a section of the National Road in Frostburg’s historic business district.  This annual event gains great interest from local residents\, and the clatter of these iconic racers is legendary to behold.  Pick your favorite car by paint color or driver\, and come cheer all the participants. SUMMARY:Mt. Davis Challenge
DESCRIPTION:The Mt. Davis Challenge Road Race is a 40/56 mile bicycle race that traverses the highest point in Pennsylvania. The course is “lollipop style\,” starting in Confluence\, and utilizes the hilly back roads of the Mt. Davis area and climbs to an elevation of 3\,213 feet. Once over the top\, bicyclists descend on the eastern side and climb back up on Savage Road before returning to Confluence. Prolonged climbs\, fast descents and some rough road surfaces make this a true challenge.  Several classifications of riders will draw a competitive crowd for this event.  Not your style?  Come cheer on the participants and go for a leisurely roll on the Great Allegheny Passage. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare:

SUMMARY:3M Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Think you have what it takes to cycle faster than a speeding train? Cyclists are invited to challenge the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad’s train as it climbs Mt. Savage in this face-off between man\, machine\, and mountain. \n\n\n\nA timed challenge between cyclists and the train locomotive organized by Mountain Maryland Trails\, the 3M Challenge will follow a 15.3 mile stretch of the Great Allegheny Passage alongside the WMSR railroad tracks\, from Cumberland to Frostburg. Teams of up to six riders per team or individuals can enter the challenge\, and funds raised will support maintenance and development projects on the Maryland portion of the Great Allegheny Passage as well as new trail development opportunities.  \n\n\n\nRiders will depart from the Western Maryland Railway Station every 10 minutes\, starting at 8:00 am. The train will depart from the station at 11:30 am and will be timed. Teams are challenged to have a better climb time than the train. Teams and individuals who beat the train’s time will receive a prize\, and all participants will receive a souvenir gift.
